URANIA is all about minimalism. The dinner service is a revelation for all those who call themselves purists. However, URANIA also means settling for nothing less than aesthetic perfection. This dinner service is an exemplary – and stunning – response to the call for a “new objectivity” that was issued by the deutscher werkbund (German work Federation) and the Bauhaus movement at the beginning of the 20th century.
The pieces are based on the ARKADIA tea service originally designed by Trude Petri. Although the design dates back to 1938, KPM Berlin only started producing it without relief decoration as URANIA in 1987. The pared-down version reveals the inimitable perfection of the shapes in pure, clear white.
