Today we have a great opportunity to have an interview with the founder of luxury English brand Ormonde Jayne, who creates one of most exclusive and amazing perfumes in the world, Ms. Linda Jayne.

Many thanks for finding the time in your day for the interview with us!

How would you describe Ormonde Jayne in three words?

Creative. Original. Elegant

Your passion to perfumery led you to the first career, growing and selling flowers by the roadside outside Cheshire family home. What is your vision and secret of success?

I believe I was born with an entrepreneurial spirit. From a young age I was always creative and able to make things that looked worthy to sell. Scented candles, growing bulbs in beautiful receptacles, room sprays, chocolates, growing flowers and presenting them onto bouquets. Always full of ideas and confident about my vision of beauty and elegance. I was constantly looking for ways to boost my pocket money so I could buy beautiful things for my bedroom

Ormonde Jayne manufactures all of products in its own London laboratory. Each product is created by you and bottled and packaged by hand in a London workshop. Why do you think ‘Made in England’, handmade, in-house and insourcing, is important nowadays?

It sets Ormonde Jayne apart from other perfume brands and allows us to experiment. We can be more creative and look into ideas other companies would not be able to do, like our 24-hour gold dusting powder we created and made from scratch a few years ago

England is renowned for good craftmanship and Ormonde Jayne takes pride on our manufacturing ability which is quite rare these days

Tell us something that is true about perfumes, that almost nobody agrees with you on.

Coffee beans to clear your sense of smell is rubbish, it just adds another smell to your already stretched and full receptors. After smelling a few perfumes, take a break for a couple of minutes.

You are constantly working on new perfumes and collections. Which fragrance is your favorite and why?

There isn’t a one firm favorite, I wear my perfumes according to my moods. Ormonde Woman makes me feel protected and strong, so if I have a busy day of serious meetings, its Ormonde Woman all the way. Christmas day its Orris Noir, the children like tradition and insist I wear it because it’s the first time they acknowledged a perfume on me when they were 2 or 3 years old.

Frangipani and Tai’f are my husband’s favorite but I have every Ormonde Jayne perfume on my dressing table and it all depends on my mood.

You were awarded the first prize for style and innovation and were asked to create “the perfect scented candle” for Chanel. Where are you seeking new sources of inspiration and how long does it take you to create a new product?

I like to allow 6-8 months to be comfortable with a new product and we always work a year behind the launch. The ideas come in from all directions, films, countries, colors. I tend to jot ideas down, like everyone else in the world. my list is a never-ending work in progress

Once you said that in creating Ormonde Jayne, your goal was to combine elements which you consider define true elegance: the quality of English craftsmanship, the art of French perfumery and the sensuality and natural harmony of the Orient. If we talked about combining elements you consider define an art of being a true feminine lady, what would you say?

The most attractive part of a true feminine lady is her mind, her natural confidence and immense kindness. A loving smile and a giving personality.

Who supports you in the further development of Ormonde Jayne and whose opinion are of the most value?

I’m surrounded by the A team at work and like to run anything requiring a good second opinion in a critical business decision with my husband, who is not involved in the company, so he is not so emotionally attached.

We have heard that you are also passionate about gourmet cooking. To many of our readers, learning the art of gourmet cooking might appear to be an impossible dream. If we browsed through your cookbook, what would we find there and what dish is number one for you?

Yes, it’s true, the main topic of conversation at home is cooking, marinating, shopping for food and planning menus for the following week

My husband is a brilliant natural cook, where as I tend to stick to a recipe for the first few attempts and only start to experiment once I’ve got it all under control

There is not a number one dish but I love spaghetti vongole, lobster, osso bucco, hot buttered toast and home-made marmalade, fondue, small roast potatoes, roasted capon, goats cheese and home-made bread

I could go on and on…….

What is the main message and philosophy of Ormonde Jayne, and where do you see the company in 10 years?

Great creative perfumes, elegant packaging, brilliant customer services

In 10 years’ time, I will still be relatively young and energetic still, so the skies the limit. Ultimately, I can only see Ormonde Jayne in 500 boutiques worldwide, so it’s a working project

Ormonde Jayne, what would you like to suggest to the clients of the luxury perfume sector and to the clients of BREGNER Luxury & Lifestyle in particular?

Take your time in choosing the right perfume. Its an investment and you need to be head over heals in love with how you scent your body

Ms. Linda Jayne, many thanks for the interview, we do appreciate it. We wish you and Ormonde Jane every success in the future and all the courage and creativity!

Thank you for spreading the good word of Ormonde Jayne
