Hello Mr. Sieger, today we want to discuss with you the world of design and manufacturing. In 2005, your cooperation with FÜRSTENBERG began. Explain me, please, how exactly this happened, and how your life has changed since then.

Christian Sieger: Since the beginning of the nineties, we have dealt intensively with the topic of table culture; we have developed "Cult" and "Tric" for Arzberg as well as cutlery designs for WMF and also worked extensively for Ritzenhoff. Thus, we have met FÜRSTENBERG at the Frankfurt fair Ambiente. The first cooperation was carried out when our father independently developed candlesticks for them. In the end, he recommended us to get in touch with Fürstenberg. . At that time, we were looking for a partner who shared our ambitions in terms of culture, quality and innovation. In addition, close cooperation had a positive impact, so we were able to develop an extensive service and some of the gift items in less than twelve months.

How my life has changed? Since then, we have our own service; it has been a lot of fun to inspire people to table culture. The more often we - thanks to our porcelain - meet to have dinner together, the more real communication and intense personal contact we have. It is also, what has recently enriched my life: to see how people create cultural values and lives - and how we can inspire different audiences around the globe in a private setting or in high-quality gastronomy.

With your modern design and the exceptional craftsmanship of FÜRSTENBERG, the brand SIEGER by FÜRSTENBERG has come to the top. It was instantly a huge success. Why do you think this happened?

Michael Sieger: It was partly due, of course, to the specificity and uniqueness of the MY CHINA service that I developed, because I simply did not find comparable porcelain that would be able to meet all the needs. The use combines universal functionality with high quality workmanship. We are convinced that many people today are looking for everyday luxury without sacrificing practical application, such as use in a dishwasher.

Christian Sieger: In addition, we also started with our champagne glasses Sip of Gold, which were just as unique - and this is still so. Gold-plated 24-carat gold inside, where reflections create the impression of liquid gold. We often develop products and objects to which we have always aspired, but have never been found. Things, which make it so simply do not exist. Many people know how to appreciate the design of the dining table with high-quality objects. In accordance with this development, our products combine modern shapes and traditional ones and it refers to expensive products. In order to report this, we have invested in the presentation of the brand - whether in the media or at events. We are represented in every market and we have many retailers and buyers, whom we know personally since the first years of our work. Thus, we could personally present the features of the products.

With MY CHINA! Collection you have created a series, which can be combined endlessly. Thus, you remain in the memory of a person for a long time. How did you come to such a grandiose idea?

Michael Sieger: Already in "Cult" and "Tric" for Arzberg there are a number of functionalities, which we have further developed for MY CHINA!. The service is flexible, versatile and versatile - it meets the modern table culture at any time, from the small breakfast to the elegant dinner. For this purpose, the dimensions and diameters of the parts are precisely matched to each other, so that one and the same can be used for all cups, for example, espresso, coffee or cappuccino. The bowls can also be perfectly combined with the plates, which can be used as a practical serving aid during the festive dinner with guests. A special feature is the Cloche - one knows it from the usage in the high gastronomy, but also in everyday life, it can have a practical use. I use it when I prepare the Sunday breakfast and keep the scrambled eggs warm. Of course, it fits flexibly on the bowls and plates of the collection. In addition, we gave it additional value: you can simply turn it around and use it as another shell.

Christian Sieger: We wanted something that meets our personal requirements: aesthetic, high quality and intelligent.

How did you come up to the production of Dekore Treasure - tableware with 99% platinum or 24-carat gold, which is completely hand-applied?

Michael Sieger: After the colorful and very expressive decor of the Imperial Garden, we developed a relatively smaller but no less effective decor, "Platinum Treasure" and - in connection with the great success - later "Treasure Gold". For me it was especially important that the painted edge should be found not only on the front side of the plate, but also on the back. In order to create a variety in different parts, the width of the edge can vary depending on the product of the noble metal.

Christian Sieger: Stylish decor is a very influential moment for a spectacular panel and the whole space. Therefore, we deliberately developed very diverse projects, with which numerous variations are possible and which will suit every taste. And the drawings enliven each other, because they can be combined.

Everything is still manufactured in the best craftsmanship, even decorations are applied with a brush. With such a wide variety of dishes, this is hardly manageable, right?

Christian Sieger: Even in the factory, now you need to be a majority. Few clients are ready to afford to buy a dinner set at a very high cost or wait long for their delivery. Therefore, Fürstenberg establishes suitable equipment, monitors processes and so on. And our quality standards and uniqueness are simply uncompromising...

Would you describe yourself as a modern component of Fürstenberg?

Christian Sieger: 12 years ago Fürstenberg was, of course, a very traditional manufactory with regional and national fame. Our international attention was possible only from the very beginning, because we realized that this would be a modern trend - Sieger by FÜRSTENBERG. Over the past five years, FÜRSTENBERG has also been strongly oriented in the modern direction and has started developing projects that speak a new language.

Where do you get inspiration from?

Michael Sieger: Art, culture, travel, literature - we go with "open eyes" around the world. I had a lot, for example, attending exhibitions, events that brings professional improvements. Personally, I like to go to the theater and attend exhibitions. I find inspiration and get it everywhere. The peculiarity of inspiration is that it can not be controlled. Inspiration can be a special experience or a meeting with a person.

Please tell us briefly how the development of the new series is working. Do you first make the sketch at home and you are in the paper mountains or ideas come to you on the way?

Michael Sieger: In the beginning, I do a sketch of new ideas by hand - for this, I always have a book for the smear. After this, 2D and 3D drawings are made relatively fast and the first, as usual, very simple model is ready. To understand the dimensions, which are calculated for a cylindrical bowl, we take, for example, a strip of paper, which we twist into a ring. In our mock-shop and with our 3D-printers, a number of other models will follow the next samples to the final specific product.

How do you think, you will move forward?

Christian Sieger: We are very pleased that the SIEGER brand is represented all over the world at a high level of retail trade, and used in the private planes, yachts and in 5-star hotels. Especially the last will play an increasingly important role in the future. Expensive hotels today offer a huge number of incredible services and together with this experience of the wake up desires. These emotions should be transported everywhere. Of course, we will intensively continue this work with the theme of the table culture to the further expand of our successful positioning in the premium segment of the design industry and personally choose projects and issues, which we know that they will be successful.

The online shop BREGNER.com and Tatyana Istomina are very proud of your autograph and a pleasant meeting. We are dealing with luxury, so what is the luxury for you?

Christian Sieger: Luxury is the concentration on the main thing. Luxury and study of details take a lot of time and requires knowledge, because the value of the goods is not measured on the price tag - and important are the best quality, craftsmanship, the availability of exclusive seats, etc. This requires are the greatest skills and the realization of improving functionality with the best materials. In the end, you have to give time to people, as much as they need to achieve this quality - and it is naturally rewarded. You do not have to hurry yourself and do not rush the others, so that partnership and products are ripe.
