Initially, Sisley was widely known to the public as a brand of fashionable Italian clothing. The company was founded in 1968 in Paris by Hubert d'Ornano. His idea was to create a small family business. In the first years of its foundation, the brand specialized in the production of jeans clothes. In those years, jeans clothes were at the peak of popularity. Thus, the Sisley brand quickly gained popularity among young people. The company's first collection was called Denim. it displayed all the latest trends in fashion. The Sisley brand was later acquired by the Benetton Group. The company logo has changed, and in general the image of the company has been changed. The brand assortment also gradually expanded.

In addition to fashion collections and accessories, Sisley began to produce luxury cosmetics. In 1972, Jean-Francois Laporte and Roland de Saint-Vincent developed the first cosmetic line for Sisley. Hubert D’Ornano bought this business in 1976 and it is still the property of the family.
