Cheval des Andes is a "Grand Cru" of the New World. It combines the art of assemblage as only a first-class Bordeaux chateau like Cheval Blanc can do, along with the perfect expression of Argentine terroir with Malbec grapes from Terrazas de los Andes planted in 1929, true to their roots. A true "Grand Cru" of the Andes. It has a deep red robe with slight purple tinge and already reveals its elegance and complexity on the nose. Eccentric peat, laurel, licorice and cinnamon aromas are the first to impress, followed by ripe fruit notes such as figs, raspberries and plums. Caramelized red fruit flavors are underscored by subtle French pastry notes. Subtle tobacco notes further round out the complex array of aromas. The palate is captivating with a fine texture, pleasantly oily and creamy. It is a powerful and mature wine that maintains its full freshness and finishes with a long, delicate finish.

Vineyard: Cheval des Andes has the best single vineyard sites in Mendoza. The grapes from the Malbec vineyard (Las Compuertas) planted in 1929 form the fruity intensity and body of the wine. The grapes from the 50-year-old Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards (Los Aromos) with excellent permeability of the soil bring the structure and elegance of the assemblage.
Vinification: The grapes are harvested by hand and go twice over sorting tables - first as whole grapes, after destemming again as berries. The fermentation lasts about 30 days. During this time, delestage (complete juice extraction from the mash tank, return of the juice over the mash) and flooding of the mash take place several times to achieve a balanced extraction. Only the free juice runoff (no press wine) comes for about 18 months in new barriques (only French oak).
Storage ability: The Cheval des Andes has a maturation potential of over 20 years.
