The name and bottle label make reference to the fabled Celtic roots of settlement on the island of Islay. The whisky itself draws its water from the small spring reserved only for ARDBEG whiskies. The name Uigeadail also has its roots there. It means "Mystical Place" and is the old name of this very spring at the ARDBEG distillery.

The "water of life" was of elementary importance to the people of previous millennia. Warrior seafarers and fishermen, shepherds and monks: they all saw the ancient spring as a special gift of fate and gave it a cultic status. ARDBEG Uigeadail preserves this heritage in each and every bottle. Uigeadail is marketed without age statement as a sophisticated single malt for enthusiasts looking for new taste experiences and to enrich their collection with a specialty from the traditional ARDBEG distillery.

Tasting Notes:

Color: Light gold

Bouquet: Full-bodied, sweet and smoky - this single malt is both intense and flavorful. The undiluted bouquet has an amazing symphony of chocolate caramel and barley sugar combined with dates, raisins and smoky sherry notes, followed by flaxseed oil and a hint of leather.
Opened with water, the sweetness changes progressively to a malted honeyed warbiness, with floral currants reminiscent of a Christmas cake in the oven. The intensity of the smoky sweetness increases and the aroma of a ready-baked fruit pudding unfolds.

Taste: Sweet, full-bodied, with an intriguing balance between the sweet, savory and smoky flavors. The mouth is oily, chewy and filled with a remarkably smooth, silky effect.
The aroma is initially sweet like a Christmas cake spread with molasses, followed by notes of honey-marinated, smoky food and olives with hints of cloves and wild mint.

Finish: Long, both sweet and dry with honey, molasses and smoky with a hint of anise.
