Annick Goutal was born in 1945 and grew up in a large French family in Paris. Her father, a well-known Parisian confectioner, soon recognized the musical talent of his daughter. With an iron discipline, Annick Goutal was prepared for her career as a pianist. At the age of 16, she was awarded with the major prize for her abilities. But she never felt so well herself and fled from her father as an au pair to the capital of the British kingdom. As a coveted model, she earned a lot of money but found no luck in this work either. In the search for her true destiny and in the fight against breast cancer, Annick Goutal returned to France and discovered a dedication to craft in the perfume industry. As an apprentice of Henri Sorsana in the perfumery house Robertet, she developed a professional feeling for composition of fragrances in a short period of time.
