Mrs. Wiebke, you are a professional in the world of porcelain and of course, we have many questions to you on this topic. Tell us, please; about the trends in the porcelain market today and how much has it been changed over the past 20 years?

The trend is that in the recent years we have seen that Hering Berlin is setting trends in the porcelain market. And since then, many firms are trying to produce biscuit porcelain, suitable for daily use. Hering Berlin brand entered the market in 2005, at the same time as Sieger by Fürstenberg. The fact that two brands in parallel and independently of each other began to theme modern porcelain manufacturing for the 21st century, attracted general attention to porcelain manufactories.

In general, I can say that in recent years, many products of manufactories and large well-known firms are less and less different from each other.

Is it important when buying porcelain to look at the image and prestige of the brand?

For me personally, this is not important. The image and prestige of the brand are not necessarily a guarantee of quality. For me, the crucial is the individual taste and the fact that a certain product meets the taste of a certain person.

Which porcelain in the world in your opinion has the highest quality: German, English, French or Chinese?

The question is what is meant by quality: the fact that I will like this porcelain optically for a long time? Or that even with daily, intensive use of dishes, it remains strong and does not beat?

In my opinion, the most beautiful porcelain is produced in Germany. Besides Hering Berlin, my secret favorite is the manufactory of Nymphenburg.

In which countries, in your opinion, is the most strongly cultivated porcelain culture?

The culture of porcelain in the form of modern luxury, represented by Hering Berlin, is presented in many restaurants around the world, as well as people who support the culture of traditional meals, but are looking for their own, modern expression.

Many prestige restaurants around the world prefer to use your Hering Berlin. This indicates the high quality of your collections and aesthetic beauty. Can you tell us how you manage to win such customers, like Michelin restaurants?

It is very simple. You just need to create a beautiful, functional product.

Why did you choose the profession associated with porcelain in your life? What prompted you to do this and was there any desire to do anything else besides porcelain?

When I was 14 years old, I already knew that I definitely wanted to become a potter. This desire arose from the fact that it is possible to create something new and interesting from clay and porcelain mass. Later, when I was already a master in ceramics, I knew that I did not want to spend my whole life behind a potter's wheel in any case. While studying at the university as a ceramic designer, I met Stefanie Hering. Her creative approach to the porcelain as a material was always extraordinary for me, so I had a desire, together with Stefanie, to raise the brand of Hering Berlin to the international level.

And this occupation is so fascinating that until now I did not have time to think about whether it would be my desire to do something else.

How do you like to spend your free time and how do you prefer to spend your vacation?

I like to go to the theater very much; I knit complex Latvian patterns on mittens. I like spending holidays in nature, not important in the Serengeti or in Brandenburg.

As a rule, companies produce in addition to dining sets the figurines. Of particular interest are the limited collections of figurines. Who is in charge of the design of these statuettes in your company?

A limited collection of statuettes was created for Hering Berlin by the ceramic designer Pamela Mei Yee Leung, who was born in Hong Kong and lived in England. I am looking forward to creating a new limited collection with new designers. However, everything has its time.

Returning to the subject of statuettes, a limited series of which firms, besides yours, do you consider the most popular and why?

Answering your question, I can naturally speak only for myself. My favorite is the Comedia Couture Edition of Nymphenburg Manufactory. From the side of marketing it is a very right decision to present the available figures in the interpretation of modern designers. Some designers of clothes use the techniques of the porcelain painting with the extraordinarily skills.

Besides porcelain, in which area can you describe yourself as a connoisseur? Perhaps expensive wines, perfumes or something else?

I think a good meal. Good use porcelain is always good only with the good food. It you can always admire me, especially after a long working day. I also like silver hand-made devices.
